Bio

Gabriela Hamdieh is currently a Master’s student in Public Policy and Management at Heinz College. When she earned her Bachelor’s in Public Policy at the University of Houston, she helped found the Houston Undergraduate Law Review and published an analysis with them on the Supreme Court Case. She has led research projects on Latino community support frameworks and student civic engagement. Additionally, she has staffed elected officials as a Legislative Aide/Fellow, writing bill recommendations for International Affairs along with Licensing and Administrative Procedures. In her nonprofit work, she organized campaigns to encourage environmental sustainability in Texas, and currently writes grant proposals for clean air projects. 

Being both Palestinian and Chicana, she is passionate about understanding and investigating the intersectionality of diaspora communities, and hopes to centralize the African diaspora as a methodology in understanding resilience and identity. Through her work at CBESA, she is excited to engage with and advance scholarship on post-colonial thought, literary theory, and the unique cultural study presented by exploring Black Europe.
