Riley Weatherholt is a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ, where she conducts Atmospheric and Environmental Chemistry research as a member of the in ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ’s Center for Atmospheric Particle Studies.
Her research focuses on in-droplet chemistry as well as the remediation of persistent micropollutants. Weatherholt is using the Aerosol Optical Tweezers to observe environmentally-relevant redox reactions in levitated microdroplets in real time. She also uses mass spectrometry to observe the degradation of toxic micropollutants, including per-and poly-fluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS).
