MSM Graduate secures spot in Symbotic's Operations Development Program
When MCC Career Counselor learned about the Operations Development Program (ODP) at —a global leader in warehouse automation, robotics, and AI-powered supply chain software—she thought of Master of Science in Management (MSM) student as the ideal candidate.Â
As a Carnegie Mellon mechanical engineering graduate and former student-athlete, Stokey enrolled in the Tepper School's Master of Science in Management (MSM) program to complement his technical background with the business and operational expertise needed to pursue a career in operations.
Riley quickly encouraged him to attend Symbotic’s corporate information session last fall and apply for the opportunity.Â
Symbotic's Campus Recruiter, appreciated the MCC partnership, "Their support in guiding students to our information sessions and opportunities, such as our Operations Development Program, ensures candidates are informed, engaged, and equipped to ask thoughtful questions throughout the interview process."
Following Career Counselor Kate's advice, Mitchell attended the session, and once he learned more about the ODP program, including exposure to operations, strategy, and real-world implementation, he was sold.Â
Symbotic was exactly where he wanted to be.
"I was especially drawn to the idea of working directly with innovative systems and contributing to the development and deployment of technology that is actively shaping the future of supply chain operations."
After a series of interviews, Mitchell received an offer he could not refuse.
For Mitchell, the Tepper School MSM program provided exactly what he needed to become the well-rounded candidate Symbotic was seeking. Through the MSM program, he gained exposure to key business disciplines such as accounting, finance, optimization, and economics, while continuing to build on the quantitative rigor he had developed as an engineering student.Â
That unique combination of technical and business expertise became a powerful advantage throughout his recruiting process and helped him successfully position himself for the ODP role.
