Key Dates for Hourly Student Workers
Academic Year 2026–27
August 2026
- August 9, 2026 — End of AY25–26 summer positions
- Summer position must end by August 9.
- HR will end all AY25–26 hourly positions with start dates before August 10.
- August 10, 2026 — Federal Work Study period begins
- Hourly students may begin working in their AY26–27 positions starting August 10.
December 2026
- December 14, 2026 — Last day of finals
- Graduating international students may not work as student workers beyond the last day of finals.
- December 16, 2026 — Fall grades due
- Graduating domestic students may not work as student workers beyond the submission of final grades.
May 2027
- May 2, 2027 — Federal Work Study Period ends
- Hourly student working beyond May 2 will be charged 100% to the department budget.
- Hourly student workers are permitted to continue working in their AY26–27 positions until May 23.
- May 3, 2027 — Summer position start date
- Summer position can start effective May 3 and must end by August 8.
- May 11, 2027 — Last day of finals
- Graduating international students may not work as student workers beyond the last day of finals.
- May 16, 2027 — Commencement
- Graduating domestic students may not work as student workers beyond commencement.
- May 24, 2027 — Summer position start date
- Current students continuing to work after May 23 will need to have a new hourly student position using summer effective dates (May 24–August 8)
- HR will end all AY26–27 positions that started before May 3.
August 2027
- August 8, 2027 — End of AY26–27 summer positions
- Summer positions must end by August 8
- HR will end all AY26–27 hourly positions with start dates before August 9.
