ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ the project

Polyphonic is a research project from Carnegie Mellon’s Human-Computer Interaction Institute. The goal of this project is to compile a dataset of audio clips that would allow our partners to advance their research into in-home technologies.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ the game

Rolling Rapsody is what is known as an Audio Game With a Purpose (GWAP) and is a product of the OH!Lab at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ. The purpose of the game is to create an incentive platform to encourage users to collect audio sounds. These audio sounds are part of a larger in-home audio database that can be used to further research and innovation.

Jessica Hammer

I am the Thomas and Lydia Moran Assistant Professor of Learning Science, jointly appointed in the HCI Institute and the Entertainment Technology Center at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ. I co-direct the OH!Lab. The lab’s work spans learning, play, design, and culture. My own research focuses on three core areas: transformational games, educational technology for project-based learning, and inclusive innovation in design

Nikolas Martelaro

I am an Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon's Human-Computer Interaction Institute. My lab focuses on augmenting designer's capabilities through the use of new technology and design methods. My interest in developing new ways to support designers stems from my interest in creating interactive and intelligent products. I blend a background in product design methods, interaction design, human-robot interaction, and mechatronic engineering to build tools and methods that allow designers to understand people better and to create more human-centered products.
